Hospital Services

Hospital provides a comprehensive care for maternal, gynaecological and neonatal patients. Hospital act as a tertiary care referral center and as a teaching hospital for undergraduate medical students, post-graduate doctors, nurses and midwifes. 

OPD & Emergency Care Services

The Outpatient Department functions 24 hours a day treating outpatients and providing emergency care treatment. A separate emergency treatment unit (ETU) is situated in OPD to provide emergency care.

 Obstetrics & Gynaecology Units

There are five Obstetrics and Gynaecology Units in the hospital headed by senior most consultants with wealth of experience in the country. The consultants are supported by Resident Obstetricians, Senior Registrars, Registrars, Medical Officers and Intern Medical Officers

Clinics

Castle Street Hospital for Women provides Antenatal clinics, Gynaecology clinics, Well – Women clinics, Well- baby clinics and reproductive health clinics. In addition hospital conducts special clinics to patients who are suffering from medical conditions and clinics for neonatal eye screening. In our Antenatal clinics advance bookings are accepted in order to make ease for the mothers to come to clinic. The medical staff of the relevant wards headed by the consultant conducts these clinics.        

 Neonatology Units with Special Baby Care Unit

A well-equipped Neonatology Unit with an Intensive Care Unit for neonates is functioning at maximum capacity in order to provide best possible services to the needy neonates. Unit is headed by a consultant paediatrcian and a consultantant neonatologist, supported by 20 medical officers and nursing staff. 

 Intensive Care Unit

 There is a six bed ICU for the critically ill patients.  Transfers from the other Government Health Care Institutions and Private Hospitals from all over country are also taken care of in this unit. Unit is headed by a consultant anesthetist and ably supported by consultant physician and consultant obstetricians.

  Mother Baby Unit/ Lactation Management Centre

Mother Baby Unit is a Separate unit that is in place to train mothers to take care of their very small babies. This unit gives all necessary training to look after very small babies at home before they are discharged from hospital

Lactation Management Centre provides services for mothers who have difficulties in breast feeding their babies. Also this is a referral centre for other hospitals and this canter provides in-service training for the staff coming from out station hospital.

 Operation Theatre

 Three Operating Theatres are functioning round the clock. Theatres are equipped to carry out most gynaecological surgeries and advanced laparoscopic surgeries.   A separate theatre is available only for the Caesarian Sections.

USS/Laboratory/Radiology/ECG / Physiotherapy

The Radiology Department is headed by a well experienced Consultant Radiologist to provide scanning facilities for all needy patients.  In addition separate scanning facilities are provided to obstetrics units for routine and emergency scans.  

A senior Consultant pathologist is in-charge of the laboratory. All basic investigations and necessary advanced investigations are carried out in the laboratory. In-ward investigations are done for critically ill patients.

  ECG and Physiotherapy services are available in order support the clinicians.

Transfusion Service

Hospital blood bank provides services around the clock. It is equipped to provide blood and blood products in any emergency.
